Meta now allows US-based users to share NFTs on Instagram

On Thursday, September 29, 2022, Meta finally brought its long-awaited digital collectibles feature on Instagram. Notably, this feature is only available to its user-base in the USA. as Meta stated in a blog post: “Today we’re announcing that everyone on Facebook and Instagram in the U.S. can now connect their wallets and share their digital collectibles…. Additionally, everyone in the 100 countries where digital collectibles are available on Instagram can now access the feature.”

Functionality for NFTs on Instagram had been in the testing phase since May 2022, so the wait for it has been long indeed. Now Instagram users in the USA can connect their wallets from Dapper Labs, MetaMask, Coinbase, Rainbow, and Trust to Instagram.

As an additional feature, USA-based Instagram users can even crosspost their non-fungible tokens to their linked facebook accounts. To share their NFTs on  Facebook or Instagram, users would need the latest versions of both the apps. When they have both their apps and their digital wallets installed on their phones, they can simply sign into their social media account and connect their wallet by choosing the “digital collectibles” feature under app settings.
