Solana Saga will bring an Android framework for rich mobile web3 experience: Anatoly Yakovenko

The Android-based infrastructure means you can also install Solana’s new developments on your existing Android phone.

Back in June 2022, Solana made the announcement that it will be producing the “Saga,” a web-based phone. At the TechCrunch Disrupt Summit on October 20, Thursday, Yakovenko referred to this as an “opportunity” against Google and Apple as well as a way for developers to avoid the “tax” that these companies apply on purchases made through the app store.

“They’re built around a rent-seeking model where all the content is owned by the creator and you as a user rent it. When you buy a video from Amazon, you don’t actually own it; everyone realizes that you don’t own it, I don’t know what’s going to have to change internally for them to give up the 30% tax on apps”- is what Yakovenko stated.

Saga – the solution from Solana, comes with a software development kit for web3 called the Solana Mobile Stack (SMS). According to Solana, the SMS is a “Android framework that allows developers to design complex mobile experiences for wallets and apps on Solana.”

Android, the operating system that powers around 70% of all modern mobile phones, is the fundamental concept here. So you can easily install whatever Solana makes on an Android phone you already own.
