Mastercard to launch web3 program for emerging music artists

The Mastercard Artist Accelerator program will bring together artists, mentors, and their fans together for an engaging digital community.

Continuing its association with web3 to expand its impact in the music industry, Mastercard announced its collaboration with Polygon to launch the Mastercard Artist Accelerator program. In an official statement released by Mastercard, the company stated the difficulties emerging music artists face in collaboration, content creation, and ownership. The accelerator program aims to bridge this gap and connect artists with mentors and a fanbase as they learn the nuances of learning and creating in web3.

The program will start in spring 2023 and will initially select five emerging musicians and help them create their brands using NFTs and other features of the web3 platform. The artists would also get exclusive access to certain events and music releases. There’s also an important aspect in the program for fans, who would be able to buy a limited and unique NFT, gain access to different features of the pram, become part of the digital community, and learn more about the web3 space.

At the program’s launch, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer of Mastercard, Raja Rajamannar, said, “Music is a universal passion, inspiring us, moving us, and bringing us together; however, it can feel impossible for budding artists to break in. With the Mastercard Artist Accelerator, we are expanding access and driving connections further with cutting-edge Web3 technology.” Polygon would be the blockchain powering the platform. The CEO of Polygon Studios, Ryan Wyatt, also welcomed the partnership with Mastercard and spoke about the importance of the Mastercard Artist Accelerator program and web3. The music industry also spoke highly about Mastercard and its endeavors with Music and web3.
