The upcoming Merge upgrade, which will mark Ethereum’s shift from Proof-of-Work to Proof-of-Stake, could happen before September 19 – the tentative date announced earlier. The Merge is likely to happen on September 15 or 16 now, confirmed Anthony Sassano, co-founder of ETH research website ETHHub, after a call with Ethereum core developers.
‘Bellatrix’ and ‘Paris’ are the two steps remaining before Ethereum finally completes its upgrade. While Bellatrix will happen on September 6, Paris will take place after Ethereum reaches a certain level of hash rate, which is expected to happen on September 15. Ahead of the much-anticipated Merge upgrade, Ethereum has witnessed weekly gains of 14% and was trading at $1,890 at the time of writing.
