The layer-1 blockchain solution creator Aptos Foundation declared on October 18 that it has given free APT tokens to members who joined its testnet early on. The company said that it has distributed an estimated 20 million APT tokens to around 110,235 qualified participants, representing 2% of its initial supply of 1 billion APT. Based on the token’s market pricing at the time of the drop, the airdropped tokens were worth around $200-$260 million USD.
Aptos Foundation took to Twitter on October 18 to state this: “The Aptos Foundation has provided early network participants with APT tokens. If you are eligible to claim, you will receive an email from airdrop@aptosfoundation.org in the next few hours.”
According to the firm, users who submitted an application for an Aptos Incentivized Testnet and users who minted “an APTOS: ZERO testnet NFT” were both eligible to receive the airdropped tokens. Notably, only the original minters of said NFTs were eligible, and not any of the owners who bought them afterwards.
The company further stated that airdropped APT tokens may only be claimed through the official Aptos Community page, with more details supplied in the eligibility emails sent to qualified users. To prevent being cheated, Aptos advised people to apply great vigilance and only trust official sources and channels.
