The football association of Argentina has collaborated with the metaverse platform post its victory in the football World Cup 2022.
Argentina’s football league(AFA) has announced its entry into the metaverse through a partnership with popular web3 platform Upland. This collaboration is expected to bring the league closer to its fans through better engagement in the metaverse between teams, players, and fans. Various collectibles, tokens, and exclusive offers and rewards would be included, making it even more attractive for fans.
Upland would also get access to exclusive highlights of matches of Liga Profesional de Fútbol (LPF), with the Argentine football league benefiting monetarily from the sale of NFTs. Upland would also provide a virtual version of the regular economy to its users, where they could set up shop in their virtual properties and sell their collectibles virtually. AFA President Claudio Fabian Tapia said, “The Argentine Professional League has long awaited opportunities to take advantage of emerging technologies to enhance our League’s fan experience.” He added, “This agreement allows us to partner with the best creators of technology and new digital products and thus generate a new source of income for all participating clubs.”
Partnerships between sports firms and web3 platforms have been increasing in recent years, providing a win-win situation for both parties. Fans directly get access to exclusive collectibles or rights to their favorite teams and players, while web3 platforms get widespread popularity through the huge fan base sports teams demand.
