Bitcoin debuts in United States college’s curriculum

The new Bitcoin course would help students learn more about the crypto and build a Bitcoin library.

Bitcoin has seen itself emerge as a part of the curriculum of a reputed college in the United States, as it is set to be introduced in Texas A&M as a Bitcoin course. Mays Business School at Texas A&M’s Associate Professor Korok Ray announced through a Twitter thread on January 13 that he will teach the Bitcoin course to the College of Engineering and Mays Business School students. The course is titled “Bitcoin Protocol.”

Ray further mentioned that they would follow the book Programming Bitcoin written by Jimmy Song and eventually build a Bitcoin library from scratch. Ray also stated the approval for the course took months but having Bitcoin in the curriculum was important for the long term. Experts believe that an education in crypto and blockchain technologies could greatly increase adoption and financial literacy. The lack of knowledge is why people viewed the crypto industry suspiciously.

University of Boston Law School’s Adjunct Professor Thomas Hook mentioned that the law school offered a ‘Crypto Regulation’ course, which helped the students learn the various methods of moving through the uncertain regulatory regime for crypto products at present. He added, “It’s meant to expose future lawyers on the potential issues they may see and the myriad of approaches and regulations that exist as it pertains to crypto [and] the different [issues] that crypto companies may face across the globe.” Many other reputed colleges in the world have started offering crypto courses now.
