A Bitcoin Research Institute, backed by the University of Wyoming, is set to launch in August this year as an initiative for crypto education in the US.
The University of Wyoming in the US has taken the initiative to expand the ambit of crypto education in the US. According to the university, it will open a new Bitcoin Research Institute in August this year. The institute will aim to furnish peer-reviewed studies on Bitcoin. Meanwhile, the inaugural Director of the institute, Bradley Rettler, took to social media to announce the news.
Rettler also underlined the current condition of crypto education, which he described as poor. According to him, peer-reviewed publications on Bitcoin were needed to increase crypto awareness. He also countered critical past studies on crypto with his own arguments.
Moreover, the university’s official post described the institute as “The UW Bitcoin Research Institute, housed in the College of Arts and Sciences, exists to output peer-reviewed academic research on Bitcoin and contribute to curriculum in philosophy, economics, and interdisciplinary courses.”
An interesting insight into the development is that the institute will also accept Bitcoin donations for its operations. Moreover, Rettler claimed that 4% of the institute’s donations will be in Bitcoin.
Universities in the US have been in the news in the past due to their pro-crypto initiatives. For instance, Stanford University and the University of Austin have led similar drives on crypto awareness and investments. Moreover, Tether has also launched a crypto educational program.
Education can help dispel misconceptions about crypto and build trust in the technology. Individuals can differentiate between legitimate projects and scams by understanding the underlying principles. At the same time, a well-informed public can support the development of effective and balanced crypto regulations.
