A blockchain group and the Government of the Philippines would be collaborating to promote the technology in the country, aiming to make it a hub.
A blockchain group has recently joined hands with the Philippines government for a fresh boost for adoption in the country. The Blockchain Council of the Philippines (BCP) group has taken the initiative. The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) would be its crucial partner in this project.
The Blockchain Council of the Philippines has put its primary focus on adoption. A senior official of the group has claimed its goal was to increase the technology’s reach in the country. It would strive towards making the Philippines a major leader in space.
The group will work with stakeholders on this goal. It will include the government, developers, businesses, and other proponents. The partnership with the DICT is the first step towards the process.
“We have seen the rise of innovative blockchain in startups, the success of blockchain-based business solutions and the birth of the initiative that makes blockchain for public good,” said the director of DICT, Emmy Lou Versoza-Delfin.
The government’s partnership with the blockchain group has indicated a clear shift in the crypto industry. It could hope for better prospects for the government in the future.
It is in stark contrast to other developed economies where the government is still divided on the issue of blockchain and crypto. The Philippines can expect to be a major blockchain hub in the future with such policies.
