California’s Senator aims to push the state to the forefront of technological innovations with the latest legislation.
Following the approval of a new law that incorporates blockchain technology into state recordkeeping, residents of California will now be able to receive their vital records via blockchain.
The legislation, introduced by California state Sen. Robert Hertzberg, represents a test of blockchain technology in government functions. “This secure and highly convenient process will allow the average person to access their vital records and shows California is still leading the way for innovation,” Hertzberg said.
Rather than using traditional 10-day postal delivery, blockchain technology will be implemented in the distribution of birth, death, and marriage records, allowing PDFs to be sent immediately instead.
