Official data has noted a big jump in crypto firms in the country, indicating massive adoption aiming to improve the scenario for crypto in Spain.
Overall, thirty companies got licenses to operate as crypto firms in Spain in 2023, creating a record. Spain has witnessed a huge jump in registered crypto firms with the move. The number grew by 56% in the current year, boosting crypto adoption in the country. Crypto in Spain will likely continue to seep further in the next few years, owing to multiple government policies and initiatives.
Recent official data noted the increase in crypto firms. Several prominent names are featured in the list, with domestic companies leading the tally. Meanwhile, a few international players in the crypto industry could also aim to register in Spain in the near future.
Spain’s government has recently adopted a pro-crypto approach, focusing on all its aspects. Earlier in 2023, an official of the Bank of Spain spoke of the benefits of a digital euro and its use cases. Margarita Delgado, the central bank’s deputy governor, said, “It is a fact that the use of digital payments has increased in the last years and accelerated during the pandemic. Therefore, this is a 3 reasonable rational for the ECB to explore the use of the digital euro as a new payment system.”
The central bank in Spain has also released a note on the digital euro, underlining its many benefits and potential applications.
Meanwhile, Spain was among the first countries to support the EU crypto rules. The country will likely implement the rules much earlier than expected, accelerating regulatory clarity for the crypto firms. If it occurs, crypto companies may flock to the country to set shop.
