Clients of the payments company Stripe in the European Union will now get to make crypto purchases easily through a widget feature.
A few months ago, the payments firm Stripe had ventured into crypto payments with a partner. It had developed a crypto payments solution with a blockchain firm as its collaborator. Now, the company has enabled crypto purchases for its users in Europe. A report from a daily in Europe has confirmed the news, and quoted Stripe officials on the matter.
The Stripe officials spoke to the news daily and shared the details of their new crypto integration feature. In fact, they mentioned their online vendors will be able to add a ‘widget’ for all crypto purchases. This widget will handle all matters related to crypto transactions, like KYC requirements, disputes, or charges.
The head of crypto at Stripe, John Egan, elaborated on their crypto integration feature. Besides, he said the feature will help crypto firms with their European users in a smooth manner. Stripe’s onramp will be useful for merchants in identity verification, fraud prevention, and conversion optimization, he mentioned. Egan added that the firms will be able to expand to a more global audience in this way.
Initially, crypto marketplaces and vendors will be able to avail of the feature, which could be expanded in the future. Meanwhile, Stripe’s recent decision follows a slew of events involving financial services firms expanding into the crypto space.
For instance, in the US, crypto projects have become very popular in the financial services industry. Reputed firms in the industry, like Visa and Mastercard, have been actively involved in exploring crypto. Moreover, they have also partnered with other firms or regulators to explore blockchain and crypto.
Use cases of crypto, like stablecoins, central bank digital currencies, asset tokenization have enabled the companies to be bullish on the space.
