Ethereum developers busy fixing  bugs ahead of planned Merge upgrade

The bugs that caused data loss may lead to a delay in the Merge scheduled to happen on September 15.

Ethereum developer Péter Szilágyi revealed on Twitter that they found a regression that corrupted the database and resulted in the loss of data. A regression bug causes a feature to stop working properly after a particular event. The data loss occurs during the shutdown, which made the tests futile, and the developers were unable to catch the bug.

The issue was fixed after a day, and the developers advised the users who updated their systems, to roll back, and rerun to check if everything was working fine. Péter, later on, apologized on Twitter for missing the issue during the testing phase.

The Ethereum Foundation also announced that it has quadrupled the bug bounties paid between now and September 8 for any merge-related network vulnerabilities.
