Google becomes the largest investor in blockchain companies

Google invested $1.5 billion in blockchain companies between September 2021 and June 2022.

Alphabet, Google’s parent company, has invested $1.5 billion, the largest so far by any public company, in blockchain companies between September 2021 and June 2022. The data was revealed in a Blockdata post.

Alphabet has become the largest investor among the top 40 companies investing in crypto and blockchain companies. The set of companies in which Alphabet invested includes Fireblocks, an asset custody firm; Dapper Labs, a web3 gaming company; Digital Currency Group, a venture capital firm; and Voltage, a Bitcoin infrastructure tool. Last year, Google had invested a much smaller capital amounting to $601.4 million across 17 blockchain companies.
