A series of tweets went up on the social networking site, hinting at a new ‘Twitter Coin’.
Twitter has made headlines again, bringing in good news for crypto enthusiasts. If rumors are to be believed, Twitter plans to introduce its own coin and payment mechanism as it continues making headway under its new CEO, Elon Musk. Social media was full of different users reporting their own versions of the theory, with many claiming the rumor to be completely true.
The initial buzz was created by the account named ‘Nima Owji,’ who posted an image of a screen where it was possible to pay tips through coins and then further posted an image of a Twitter coin. Other accounts have also posted pictures of the Twitter coin, which they claimed to have taken from the code of a particular Twitter web app. This has, in turn, created newfound optimism for the Dogecoin community, who remained hopeful of some good news since Elon Musk had endorsed Dogecoin in the past.
In the past, Elon Musk has also supported a payment mechanism for Twitter, integrating both fiat money and crypto. “It is kind of a no-brainer for Twitter to have payments, both fiat and crypto,” said Musk in a recent event. He’s been making stark changes since taking over Twitter, so it really won’t come as a surprise if Musk introduces Twitter’s own payment token in the future.
