New search feature on Twitter reveals BTC and ETH price indexes

The new feature was aimed at improving the features on Twitter involving finance, with many applauding the step.

Twitter has taken a major step to improve its search feature by directly incorporating the price index of any major stock, crypto, or ETF in its search tab. Through the new feature, users could also find out BTC and ETH prices directly by typing into the search bar. Twitter Business released a Twitter thread explaining how typing a ‘$’ sign in front of any crypto or stock would reveal a link showing the price index of the particular entity. Clicking on that link would take the user to the search results.

‘You can also search for symbols directly, without clicking on a link within a Tweet. Most symbols with and without the $ sign will work in search (QQQ or $QQQ),’ stated a subsequent tweet in the thread. The new feature received a favorable response from Twitter users, with CEO Elon Musk also praising the initiative through a tweet. The search tab only shows the Bitcoin and Ethereum price charts presently but is expected to be further expanded shortly for other crypto tokens and indexes.

Some prominent tech experts also pointed to the fact that the price charts could redirect users to a Robinhood page through a link on the bottom left corner, indicating that the financial services company may have collaborated with Twitter, though no official announcements have been made on the same. After Twitter’s takeover by Elon Musk, the crypto industry has closely watched the company for any new aspect related to crypto due to Musk being a public proponent of crypto. The next few months are expected to reveal details of any such new developments.
