Polygon co-founder believes gaming will benefit from crypto

Sandeep Nailwal, the Polygon co-founder, recently claimed on Reddit that blockchain gaming would be the next benefactor of crypto, leading to adoption.

Reddit recently saw an Ask Me Anything (AMA) session on May 25, where the Polygon co-founder, Sandeep Nailwal, answered a slew of questions on crypto and its future. Nailwal was of the opinion that blockchain gaming could be the next reason for broad-based crypto adoption in the next few years.

“There are some top games launching in Web3 in the next 6-18 months, and it would be very interesting to see if some of them are able to crack the crypto code. Last year itself, there was $2 billion+ in funding for Web3 games,” said Nailwal.

Amongst those games receiving funding, the Polygon and Immutable X (IMX) partnered project received a major portion. Both Polygon and IMX are slated to develop a blockchain network using the zk-rollup tech of Polygon, which is EVM-compatible. The blockchain network is expecting a release in the upcoming months.

Nailwal was also asked questions about the speculative nature of the crypto space, which he answered in a neutral tone. He stated it was a boon since top talent was flocking to the industry but described the speculation as a bane. He said speculation was a by-product of any nascent industry like crypto, and it was also observed in the Gold rush and the Dot com boom.

The Polygon co-founder also believed most crypto projects still needed to be decentralized more, and the industry had to work towards it. Only Bitcoin and Ethereum were fully decentralized, according to him.
