Polygon collaborates with OCEEF to improve ocean literacy

The Ethereum-based platform will allow participants to explore the RV Odyssey through a governance platform.

On October 6, the decentralized Ethereum scaling platform Polygon announced their partnership with the Ocean Conservation Exploration and Education Foundation. The goal of this partnership, according to them, is to magnify ocean literacy by developing new methods to let their user-based explore deep-sea missions. As Polygon said in a tweet: “The aim is to offer interactive experiences via a governance platform where participants can assist in key decisions.”

Polygon will aid in democratizing access to the RV Odyssey through immersive metaverse experiences. The collaboration will bring users the opportunity to play a  significant role in various decisions regarding the vessel’s actions, and even participate in missions.

Alex Moukas, the founder of OCEEF, said at the Green Blockchain Summit 2.0 hosted by Polygon, “We will be using technology to democratize access to the vessel through multiple Web3 platforms and provide participants the ability to help decide the vessel’s future itinerary and research.”

Notably, Polygon committed to becoming carbon-negative by the end of 2022 back in April, and pledged $20 million for investments in climate-related projects. Since then, Polygon has reportedly achieved carbon neutrality, scrapping 104,794 metric tons of greenhouse gasses.
