Protokol has joined the EBSI initiative as a partner to enable credential verification via blockchain technology across various sectors and regions.
In the latest new initiative, which is a part of the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure Vector project, blockchain firm Protokol has been made a part of the team to create an exclusive credential verification program to be used for educational and professional purposes in the European Union.
The European Blockchain Services Infrastructure Initiative is a program adopted by the European Union to create a blockchain-based framework for services for EU citizens. The credential verification program will simplify users’ credentials and make them interoperable across the European Union.
In an announcement, Protokol claimed the credential verification program would enable EU citizens to use their credentials like degrees and work experience certificates in other EU countries. They would also be able to complete the credential verification securely through the service. Subsequently, the program might be merged with other initiatives of the EU, such as SDG and EUeID.
CEO of Protokol, Lars Rensing, said, “We believe that blockchain and Web3 technology have enormous potential to transform a wide range of industries and prepare them for the future, from manufacturing and logistics to education, sports, retail, gaming and more. By working on this project, our team of blockchain experts are excited to help realize this potential and make a positive, lasting impact on society.”
The European Blockchain Services Infrastructure initiative and its Vector project are among many actions taken by the European Union to create a crypto-friendly region. It also passed the MiCA bill recently.
