A partnership with Google, an app store and a new smartphone are amongst many other announcements made at the Solana event.
In Breakpoint 2022, the annual four-day event of the Solana ecosystem in Lisbon, several key announcements were made, which included a partnership with Google, the launch of Solana smartphones, and an exclusive Solana app store. From November 4 to November 7, 2022, almost 13000 visitors thronged for the announcements, indicating the significance and popularity of this event.
Respective Co-founders of Solana and Solana Labs, Raj Gokal and Anatoly Yakovenko, also featured in the events. The CEO and Founder of Solana Spaces, Vibhu Norby, announced the launch of GeoNFT, which would allow users to geo-tag any location in their city, with exclusive rights to open a Solana store in that region.
Preorders of Solana Smartphones will also start in early 2023. The phone, powered by a Qualcomm chipset, would enable users to store the private keys of their crypto wallets securely. Aiming for a Web3 disruption, a Solana app store was also announced, which would be completely free for its users and developers.
The entire spotlight, however, was on Solana’s newly announced partnership with Google Cloud, which will be a Solana Node validator. Google Could also took to Twitter to announce it will introduce the Blockchain Node Engine to the Solana chain in 2023. Moreover, it will also index Solana data, bring it to BigQuery next year, and start accepting crypto payments.
