Music giant Sony Music Entertainment has filed for a trademark to use NFTs for authenticating music. The trademark application covers music and artists under the Columbia Records Label. The Twitter announcement revealed that the trademark application covers NFT-backed audio and video recordings of live musical performances.

Besides NFTs, the trademark application also covered distribution and marketing services, podcasts, audio-video recordings, promotion and advertising, and online entertainment. The trademark application comes after the many NFT-backed projects Sony Music has launched so far.
