Toyota GR Cup to employ blockchain services

The Toyota GR Cup has intended to award digital trophies and use the blockchain services of Polygon to continue its crypto endeavors further ahead.

Toyota has announced a new initiative regarding one of its reputed racing series. Interestingly, the Japanese car manufacturer will take the help of blockchain services in the process. The celebrated Toyota GR Cup will use the Polygon blockchain to create digitized trophies. It will also record players’ performances on the Blockchain.

A detailed press release by Toyota has shed more light on the subject. The GR Cup is one of the popular amateur racing series of Toyota. The car manufacturer will use the Polygon blockchain to enable fans to interact better with drivers. They will update regular statistics of the drivers’ performances on the Blockchain.

The Executive Commercial Director of Toyota Racing Development, Jack Irving, shared his thoughts on the news. He said, “Blockchain helps us keep a permanent digital record of drivers’ achievements that they can share with their friends, family, and fans. It also allows us to develop new opportunities to introduce race fans to our partners.” 

The GR Cup will leverage the technology to implement authenticity, transparency, and greater insight for the drivers. The GR series will feature 14 races in total while featuring the Toyota GR86. It will include notable tracks of the United States, such as the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and others.

Toyota’s move to using blockchain services for one of its most famous races is a positive sign for crypto. Major conglomerates are recognizing crypto’s benefits and utilizing its underlying technology for a slew of use cases.
