The exclusive Bitcoin policy group in the UK aims to increase Bitcoin adoption through enhancing awareness and education in the space.
Bitcoin Policy UK (BPUK), a new group of Bitcoin advocates in the UK, has teamed up to raise awareness of Bitcoin and its potential. It aims to reach out to environmentalists, experts, miners, tax specialists, and policymakers to spread the message of the potential of Bitcoin in the country, prepare students, and educate them for emerging Bitcoin jobs.
The Head of Policy at Bitcoin Policy UK, Freddy New, said the idea of the group emerged at the Bitcoin Collective Conference held in 2022, where the present members of BPUK decided to work together to increase the reach of their work in the Bitcoin sector and help spread the correct message and data regarding Bitcoin to concerned stakeholders. They would also focus on the environmental impacts of Bitcoin mining and the sustainability goals of the same.
“The UK has an immense opportunity to become one of the first jurisdictions globally to embrace Bitcoin. We have seen what is possible in El Salvador, which is experiencing huge gains due to its forward-thinking approach to Bitcoin. The UK can secure a similar competitive advantage, and we hope to support the British people in making that happen,” said Krista Adams, the co-founder of Bitcoin Policy UK.
The not-for-profit group has several plans for Bitcoin adoption, including helping to form a crypto regulatory environment in the UK separate from the European’s Union’s laws. The group also consists of several experts in the Bitcoin sector, who would work together to sensitize the government on Bitcoin proposals.
