Warner Music Group (WMG) is already well-known for staying ahead of the pack when it comes to expanding its operations into the metaverse. Now, with its recent job posting on LinkedIn for a senior director for metaverse development, WMG continues to further its web3 strategy.
A New York-based individual is needed for the position to oversee WMG’s metaverse strategy, which will include “music entertainment experiences in metaverse and gaming.”
According to WMG, projects involving the metaverse would emphasize “immersive experiences and strategic content integration.” A person with previous experience working for a game developer, studio, or metaverse platform who is also extremely knowledgeable about content licensing and the global digital media ecosystem would be deemed the ideal applicant.
WMG already brought Mike Shinoda, the co-founder of Linkin Park, on board in April as its community innovation adviser. Shinoda is now working on “defining the company’s artist-centric approach to web3.” Additionally, WMG has welcomed blockchain-based partnerships with significant metaverse and NFT platforms like OneOf and OpenSea.
Back in January, WMG had announced that they would introduce a music-focused theme park featuring performers like Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa, Bruno Mars, and Cardi B on the metaverse platform The Sandbox.
